Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 21:1-11 We love the idea of a king and his kingdom. Almost all great kid’s movies are about a King or Prince coming to the salvation of someone in need of rescue. Something in our heart about a benevolent ruler who sacrifices Himself for the good of others. In this passage, we have the beautiful image of Jesus as the King of universe and the Prince of Peace riding into Jerusalem to save it and to save us from our sins.

Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:7 Christian character and behavior is always based on the gospel which reveals to us who God is. In this verse who God is, namely His mercy, is the basis for our mercy. God is a God of mercy and those who know Him are marked by mercy. We who are in daily need of mercy ought to be most merciful toward others. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 4:1-11 Whatever you’ve been tempted with, Jesus was tempted by that same thing. Because He understands your temptation, He can help and aid you. But more than that, Jesus overcame temptation to display His power over sin and the devil. Satan would cut you to pieces and utterly destroy you if he could, but in the end, all the scheming of Satan against you will come to nothing because Christ has overcome him. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:13-16 Salt is absolutely indispensable to life. Jesus says our lives are to point people to Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the life. Light is absolutely indispensable to life. Let the sun stop shining and soon even the heart of the ocean would be frozen solid. Without Jesus, this world would be a cold and dead place. Our job as salt and light is to point people to Jesus who alone can bring abundant and spiritual life. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:6 Have you ever been hungry or thirsty? Hunger and thirst are all consuming desires that supplant all other desires. Jesus said in the same way we are to hunger and thirst for God and for righteousness. But Jesus also says we are not the ones who produce righteousness in our life. Righteousness is a work of God. He alone can supply it and produce it within us. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:1-3 We cannot come to God until we recognize our spiritual bankruptcy and His desire and ability in Christ to forgive us. It doesn’t matter whether we are homeless or a millionaire, when we come to the cross we are all beggars. A spiritual beggar is someone who sees their sin and cries out to God like the publican, “Oh God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:38-42 Jesus taught we are not to have a retaliatory spirit where we demand justice in every situation. When we are wronged, we are to respond with grace rather than vengeance. That is exactly how God deals with us. We have rebelled against and wronged God, and instead of God giving us justice, through Jesus He gives us grace. Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 6:24-34 Our hope is not in the economy. Our hope is not in our job security. Our hope is not in the stock market. Our hope is in Jesus, and He is in control. The hope of the gospel is not just for salvation, it is for all of life. We overcome worry by realizing God loves us and He is in control, and by surrendering our soul and lives to Him. Then we trust Him with the rest. Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 28:18-20 We need to go back and review the basics for success in any endeavor, but that is especially true when it comes to following Jesus. A river is always purest at its source. For you and I, that source is Jesus. His teachings, life, love, and righteousness is the ideal we are seeking to duplicate. As a church, we are trying as best we can to follow the teachings of Jesus in the Bible, and restore the church to its original form as best we can. We see that form here in this passage in what is called the Great Commission of Jesus. Click HERE to download sermon.
Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 1:18-25 The virgin birth of Christ is one of the great doctrines of the Christian faith and most discussed events in all of human history. But why was Jesus born of a virgin? This passage answers that question in multiple ways. Click HERE to download sermon.
