Sermon by: Stephen Downes Mark 8:34-38 You may be struggling with life, hurt, pain, or suffering. You may be struggling with sin, temptation, or desires of the flesh. Regardless of what you may be experiencing, there are four principles that will always be relevant to following Jesus.

Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:5 We typically associate meekness with weakness. But Jesus said he is meek and lowly. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is strength under control. We are meek when we yield our hearts and lives to God. Meekness lives a life free of retaliation. Meekness is demonstrated in our reactions because they reveal our heart. God can do anything with a person who is meek, but He can’t do anything with a person who is not. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:4 As we gain a glimpse of the greatness, grandeur, and holiness of God, there becomes a sense of our own brokenness which produces a longing for salvation and comfort. God never leaves us in mourning, as we mourn over our sin, God's response is to comfort us with His grace and forgiveness. Mourning is the gateway to joy. Every conviction of the Holy Spirit is an opportunity for joy if we repent and turn to Jesus. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Matthew 5:1-3 We cannot come to God until we recognize our spiritual bankruptcy and His desire and ability in Christ to forgive us. It doesn’t matter whether we are homeless or a millionaire, when we come to the cross we are all beggars. A spiritual beggar is someone who sees their sin and cries out to God like the publican, “Oh God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin 1 Corinthians 10:14-11:1 The greatest temptation of life is not to violate some specific command. The greatest temptation of life is to worship created things rather than God who created all things. Essentially, Satan tempts us to get all of life wrong. His main strategy is to distort the true nature of God so we don’t worship the true God, but we worship a god of our imagination. |
