Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Luke 1:67-79 Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, demonstrates a great and comprehensive knowledge of the Old Testament Scriptures. Jesus is not the founder of a new religion, Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promised to David that one of his sons would be the king of an eternal kingdom. Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham to bless all the families of the world through his Seed. Zacharias says the covenants of the Old Testament are about Jesus and fulfilled in and through Jesus. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin Luke 1:46-55 After Gabriel appeared to her and told her she would give birth to the Messiah, Mary wrote a song to declare the greatness of God. In her song, Mary declares her need for salvation and her own personal faith in God. Mary is not an object of our faith, she is a wonderful example of faith. She was blessed not because she was good, but because God was good to her. Like Mary, we all need a Savior and His name is Jesus. Sermon by: Pastor Matt Spradlin 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 Could you imagine things being so bad, when people come to church they leave worse off than when they came? That is what was happening at Corinth, specifically as it relates to the observance of the Lord’s Supper. We are worse off when we stray from the Word of God. The Lord’s Supper is a picture of the gospel, so it's important we get the picture right. |
