Genesis 11:10-12:3

​Genesis 1-11 is about mankind trying to attain wisdom, fame, and blessing in all the wrong ways, but God alone can give us the blessing we desire.  So many people are trying to achieve blessing without God.  What they think will be a blessing ends up being empty, because life without God is empty.  God is the source of all true blessing.

Genesis 10:1-32

​We see in this passage the unity of the human race- all of us are descendants of Adam, Noah and one of Noah’s three sons.  The harmony among the people of the earth is not based upon language, culture, or geography, it is based upon the fact that God has created each one of us from one man, in the image of God, and He blesses all the nations of the earth through the Lord Jesus Christ.  We also see that our lives are effected by who came before us and our lives effect those who come after us.

Genesis 9:18-29

​Noah gets off the ark, and the next thing we are told is he is passed out drunk.  We never get to the point where we are beyond temptation and sin.  If Noah fell into sin, you and I can easily fall into sin.  We have to be on guard and vigilant in our lives.  Just because you have walked with God for a long time, doesn’t mean you will automatically walk with God going forward.  But we also have to be vigilant with our children, just because we walk with God does not guarantee they will.

​Sometimes we feel like God has abandoned us and we are all alone, but God promises to never leave us nor forsake us.  He always keeps His promises.  Often His time frame is different than ours, but He is at work accomplishing His purposes of building our faith and bringing others to salvation.

Genesis 4:1-26

​We can look around and it doesn’t take us very long to realize something is desperately wrong with life?  Genesis 3 tell us what is wrong- sin has corrupted us and creation itself, bringing pain and death with it.  Genesis 4 shows us Adam and Eve’s sinful nature is passed down to their offspring from one generation to another.  Suddenly depravity and death become our fate, instead of goodness and life.  But God has a plan.

​Genesis 3:14-24

​This passage describes “The Fall” of mankind.  Unless we understand this passage, our lives and the world and most importantly the gospel are not going to make any sense.  The gospel is about Jesus Christ coming to undo The Fall and restore us back to the presence and blessings of God.
