Luke 2:8-11 Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin A dominant theme of Christmas is Joy. We sing “Joy to World, the Lord has come,” we sing “Come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,” we sing “Joyful Joyful we adore Thee.” The angel said to the shepherds, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. Jesus’ whole ministry radiated with joy. Shepherds thought it would be a routine night, but what happened brought inconceivable joy. Christmas is about the joy of Jesus, and Jesus brings us joy in three distinct ways.

Luke 1:26-49 Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, she had ample reasons to be afraid. Being Jesus’ mom was a great joy, but it also came with great pain. So God gave Mary three provisions to overcome her fear, and these same provisions He has given to each one of us. Exodus 16:1-17:7 Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin Much of our complaining is really an expression of ingratitude. Complaining makes everything worse because it affects our soul. Complaining erodes our joy, harms our influence, insults the goodness of God, and for many of us it’s a real problem. But thankfully God has given us a cure. Exodus 15:22-27 Sermon By: Pastor Matt Spradlin We all have dreams for our life. Dreams are euphoric because in dreams there are never problems. Reality is never the same as dreams, and when expectations are not met it causes a free floating sense of discouragement. The Bible resets our expectations for what life is about. The only thing you should expect from life is that it will be hard and God will be good. Both are true at the same time. |
